Adopt, Don’t Shop

What might your shelter dog have gone through before you rescued her? Join my dog, Berlin, as I imagine her troubles before joining our happy home in this fun self-directed PSA. Remember Adopt, Don’t Shop!

Created and Directed by myself at Wolf & Crow. I used Autodesk Maya and Pixologic Zbrush to loveingly bring Berlin to life as an animated character. Then artfully lit, rendered and composited her using Chaos Group’s Vray and The Foundry’s Nuke.

My goal was to tell a story in a single space with the sets and lights animated around the main character.

Breakdown

Creator/Director, Pre-viz, Design, Modeling, Texturing, Shading, Lighting, and Compositing.

Turnaround of the Berlin character sculpt out of zBrush. It took a few iterations and a bit of dog anatomy study but this the final product.

Animation pass done by Mitch Gonzalez who is also testing out the process of dropping frames to make it feel animated on 2s and 3s.

This is the final animation including the set changes. Next step is to bake out the geometry as Alembics and get to lighting.
